Temporary Controls Workstations Successfully Deployed at Ontario International Airport (ONT)

Posted by admin on May 19, 2023

ISN is pleased to announce the successful completion and go-live of a temporary controls and reporting solution at Ontario International Airport (ONT), delivered in partnership with JBT Corporation (JBT).

As part of this effort, ISN provided all required hardware, software engineering, and controls engineering to develop and deploy two temporary HMI and reporting workstations supporting the T2 and T4 systems. The solution was implemented to maintain full operational continuity while a long-term replacement of legacy server infrastructure is pursued.

In addition to the workstation deployment, ISN provided lower- and upper-level re-control of both terminals to support the replacement of all EDS units with new CTX 9800 machines, while upgrading system reporting and performance to meet PGDS standards. This work included modifications to third-party upper-level controls and was executed without disruption to ongoing airport operations.

Each system encompassed extensive conveying and screening operations, including large-scale motor counts, multi-machine screening matrices, and airline-based sortation configurations. ISN also implemented modifications across legacy motor control panels communicating with centralized PLC architecture operating in a hot backup configuration—ensuring system redundancy and reliability throughout the transition.

The reporting and control environment was built onISN’s Now Management Studio (NMS) software suite, delivering enhanced operational visibility, equipment control functionality, and standardized compliance reporting. All system updates were fully tested, commissioned, and successfully turned over to airport operations.

The solution is now live and supporting daily operations. ISN is proud to have partnered with JBT to deliver a technically complex upgrade while maintaining uninterrupted service at ONT.
