ISN successfully completed and commissioned a large-scale controls implementation for Southwest Airlines in Terminal 4 at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), delivering a fully integrated lower- and upper-level system designed to support high-volume CBIS and outbound sortation operations.
The system was engineered to manage extensive conveying and screening functions across a distributed, Ethernet-based control architecture coordinated by centralized PLCs. Designed as a sort-by-flight operation utilizing Southwest Airlines’ BSM data feed, the platform provides precise routing and operational efficiency tailored to airline-specific requirements.
At the upper level, ISN deployed its reporting suite while modifying and integrating with the existing HMI environment to enhance operational visibility, reporting, and system control. The completed system successfully went live and continues to support daily airline operations at PHX.
ISN remains actively engaged under an ongoing service and support contract, ensuring system reliability and long-term performance. Most recently, ISN released a predictive maintenance dashboard for Southwest Airlines, providing real-time motor performance monitoring and analytics-driven forecasting of maintenance needs based on runtime, cycle counts, and performance trends.
Through continued partnership and support, ISN helps ensure the Terminal 4 system operates at peak performance while proactively addressing future maintenance and operational needs.
