Innovation is a word that is often overused, but it is something that we truly believe in. To stay competitive against other intelligent companies, we must continue to invest in research and development to stay ahead of the curve.
Emerging technologies such as Google Glass, Autonomous Driving Vehicles, Oculus Rift Virtual Reality, and 3D Printing are all likely to make a huge impact in the world over the next 15 years. The reasons for looking at these devices are twofold. Firstly, we need to perform due diligence to see where these technologies can apply to our customers. At the same time, it’s important for our engineers to have access to these devices to keep them engaged and foster their creativity. The odd break from their day to day project work gives them a fresh mindset for coming up with unique solutions. A good example of this was our investment into understanding 3D Game Engines. Playing with the software lead us to design a 3D emulation package that allows us to simulate real world airport baggage handling conditions. It constantly pays dividends in the testing stages of our development lifecycle.
